With timeless familiarity for first-time and frequent visitors, inspire yourself with Paris and its intimacy. The iconic architecture, artistic treasures, and its grandeur with evolving character will make you fall in love all over again. Venture down south for the year-round sunshine, golden beaches and romantic sunset in a medieval village while exploring the opulence of Monaco and bumping into a celebrity at Cannes.
With a city as grand and iconic as Paris, one cannot be blamed to get over the itch of getting on to Eiffel tower soon after arrival. Climb it up or hit the lift and relax in Champ de Mars, or gardens of Palais de Chaillot, or take a riverside walk / cruise on Seine – that will be more than enough to whet your touristic senses right from the word go.
It’s difficult to classify Paris architecture in one form. With its Gothic, Baroque, neoclassical and endless diversity – it’s an impossible choice to select the first iconic monument for the experience and its best to start off with the one closest to you but spend the evening at Basilique du Sacre-cour to soak in the energy and all the views in one single frame. During the day try to visit Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Nortre-Dame, Concorde, Opera, and Pantheon and you have just begun to explore the city.
Museum lovers would perhaps make a weeklong visit to Paris just to experience Louvre, but in half a day visit one can perhaps visit the Pyramids and main galleries at Louvre. A perfect complement to Louvre is Musee d’Orsay on other side of the river, and if you still have time touch past National Library, and Musee de l’Armee / Hotel des Invalides
It’s entirely possible that your first few days at Paris would want you to go back to Eiffel Tower or any of the other major sites for that another look, or experience La Defense, or different quarters of Paris just walking around. However, you must keep at least half a day to visit Palace de Versailles and its gardens and soak in the majestic grandeur of the summer residence of King Louis
Nice is perhaps the best place to start off your French Riviera experience. Start off your day with a visit to Nice’s old town and Orthodox Russian Church, spend the afternoon at the beach, and enjoy the evening walking along Promenade des Anglais and / or Promenade du Paillon.
Might be difficult to visit some of the famous museums in Nice in a short trip, but worthwhile to climb up the Parc Du Chateau to get panoramic view of the city. While Cannes is a short distance away and famous not only for hosting international film festival, but also for its haut couture shops, Vieux ports where celebrity yachts are lined up, and different markets and bazaars
Monaco is another country but an integral part of French Riviera experience. It perhaps has the highest number of millionaires per square km, and it’s quite obvious from the grand architecture and walking across the streets that are part of the Formula one track as well. Enjoy wonderful view of the sea, Palace, cathedral, and casino but amidst this grandeur don’t forget to visit Eze – a romantic medieval village perched on an impossible peak that is the jewel in the crown of French Riviera. Enjoy the sunset with mesmerizing views of the coast, and the evening walking through the winding lanes of the stone houses
